Step One
After exploring Kiki's vision for her story, we agreed that the perfect starting point would be the pastel watercolor images. These beautiful pieces will serve as the backgrounds for each page of her children's storybook. We had so much fun creating them together!
Our watercolor tools we used to begin creating the backgrounds for story pages.
Kiki had a vision of how she wanted these pages to be all different watercolors. With some reference images, we got to work!
I started with a practice page. I stuck to warmer tones that matched the whimsy she had envisioned.
These pastel watercolors were super shimmery and fun to play with. It was a new experience since I usually stick to the basics and dilute with water.
Kiki and our friend also contributed to the creation of the storybook pages! It was so fun to see them get artsy and enjoy the process!
